President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi attends the US-Africa Business Summit in Mozambique

 

Gaborone, 17th June 2019:

The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation wishes to inform that His Excellency, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana will travel to Maputo, Mozambique on 18th June 2019, at the invitation of His Excellency President Filipe Nyusi, to attend the 12th US-Africa Business Summit. The Summit is scheduled to run from 18th to 21st June 2019 under the theme “Advancing a Resilient and Sustainable U.S.- Africa Partnership.”

The Summit, hosted by the Government of Mozambique in partnership with the United States of America,Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), provides a platform for the private sector and government representatives from the United States of America and Africa to engage on critical sectors such as agribusiness, energy, health, infrastructure and trade facilitation, ICT and finance. The Summit also provides the prospect for the private sector and government leaders to network; explore new business possibilities, and meet potential business partners to shape active US-Africa trade and investment policies.

Other African Heads of State and Government from the region and the continent are also expected to attend the Business Summit.

While in Mozambique, His Excellency President Dr. Masisi will on 20th June 2019 also attend the Tripartite Summit on the Techobanine Project with, President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique and President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe. The Summit will review progress on this regional rail project and chart the way forward.

His Excellency the President will be accompanied by the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Honourable Dr. Unity Dow; the Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Hon. Eric Molale; the Minister of Transport and Communications, Hon. Dorcas Makgato; the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Hon. Bogolo Kenewendo; and Senior Government Officials.

His Excellency the President is scheduled to return on 20th June 2019.
