The Acting President Slumber Tsogwane has commended the National Football team (Zebras) and the National Women Volleyball Team for their efforts and commitment during the ended games. The Zebras competed in the COSAFA games in South Africa and the Volleyball team in the Africa Games qualifiers in Mozambique.
Tsogwane applauded the teams for flying the Botswana flag high and making the nation proud. He assured the teams of government support as they continue representing the country. He said this during the welcome ceremony for the two teams yesterday.
He said the Zebras demonstrated a great competence and aptitude in the semi-finals by winning 2-1 against Lesotho and by reaching the finals against Zambia.
He urged both teams to keep working hard. “We have indeed seen new talents and we are happy to realise that a bright future lies ahead for us as a sporting nation”, said the acting president.
The Women Volley Ball team will compete in the Africa Games on the 1st -17th August 2019 in Morocco.
