BUTTERFLY FURTHER REMANDED IN CUSTODY

 

Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DISS) agent, Welheminah Mphoeng Maswabi has been further remanded in custody following a plea from the State attorneys.

“investigations are still ongoing and the team is still outside the country and we beg further remand of the accused persons,” said the state attorneys in their plea before Court.

The 46-year-old who goes by the code name ‘Butterfly’ who appeared this morning before the Broadhurst Regional Magistrate court under heavy security escort is charged with at least 3 Counts amongst them; financing terrorism (transferring an amount of 2.9million American dollars to former DISS boss Issac Kgosi). She is also charged with obtaining a Botswana passport by a false statement to immigration officials.

She was denied bail recently with the state arguing that she was a flight risk.

Maswabi is to appear on the 27th of November this year still at the Broadhurst Regional Magistrate court.
