Zambian sex workers are helping in tracing people who may have contracted COVID-19 coronavirus after new infections increased at the border town of Nakonde, the health minister has said.
76 of the 85 reported new cases in the northern town were either found on sex workers or lorry drivers, said Chitalu Chilufya.
“Sex workers have been very co-operative and they are giving us all the leads we want,” Mr Chilufya said.
To date, Zambia has 276 coronavirus cases with seven deaths.
Last week, restaurants, casinos and gyms were opened after a month-long shutdown measure of enforcing social distancing.
